Wine Tasting Grass Valley
142 Mill Street. Grass Valley, California
The old traditions of fine drink are being preserved in the 21st Century by Gary and Chris Smith. The new wine tasting room, located in Historic Downtown Grass Valley, has a known and unknown history, but was once known by locals as Bunce’s Bar. The Smiths completed the renovation of the Mill Street building in April, 2010 and were featured in the December 2010 issue of Sunset Magazine by Sara Schneider.
Our tasting room is casually elegant with a touch of the past. Small enough for that cozy glass of wine with a friend, but large enough for a group to taste our wines at the tasting bar. In the heart of Downtown Grass Valley, you can stop in while shopping for a relaxing break, or taste before you head to dinner.
Our tasting room walls are adorned with local artists work that strike up the imagination and conversation while our looping slideshow of our photographs can entertain for hours.
Original Oil horse paintings, and giclee fine art horse prints. For the Love of Horses… Inhaling deeply, my senses fill with the comforting smells of sweet hay, dust, and the warm, thick scent that is common among all horses. To stand and hug a horse, encompassing the awe of their strength and gentle nature at the same moment, leaves one utterly breathless. Yet it is in this moment that we tend to take a deeper breath than normal, finding our rhythm slowing down to match that of our furry companion.
If someone asked when I began to walk, I couldn’t say. But I do know when I began to ride. I was only 3 and I’ll never forget the ponies at the fair, weaving their way through a maze of panels to take their riders on an adventure greater than traveling in circles. The moment I saw my first horse, I was hooked. I couldn’t get enough of them, and every one I saw from that moment on, I would excitedly exclaim, “look at the horse” with such overwhelming happiness, it was as if nothing in the world mattered when in the presence of these magnificent animals.
